Children of the Cold War
David McEwan

Choking on ash and poison - As our hometown disappears
Nothing left to love now – and there’s nothing left round here
Children born in the digital age - What were you taught to fear?
Face to face you don’t want to talk - Social skills disappear

We’re children of the cold war - We were taught to fear before
Atomic bomb lights up the sky - So bright you cannot see it anymore
Children of the cold war - What do you think you’re waiting for?
You’re all grown up it’s time to go, teach the new generation everything you know

Know the cost of downcast eyes - The memory of a dying man
This beautiful world was always here - He couldn’t see through his own fear

We’re children of the cold war - We were taught to fear before
Atomic bomb lights up the sky - So bright you cannot see it anymore

Children of the cold war – feels like you were here before
