about

Here’s to the lifers!
It was twenty years ago today, more or less, when the first incantation of Skelp debuted on closing weekend at the infamous old 9:30 Club on F Street in Washington D.C.
In Sept 2011, Skelp released their highly acclaimed album “Volume” which sold all over the world. Now founding member and keeper of the flame, singer- songwriter, guitarist -vocalist Dave McEwan has released a four song EP entitled “Blood.”

Skelp’s Blood has McEwan collaborating again with the same incredible lineup from “Volume”; Ted Watts on bass and backing vocals, Ben Azzara on drums, and producer/recording engineer Blaine Misner who also contributed guitar, percussion work, and backing vocals.

The tracks “You Shine” and “Traveler” rock hard with Dorian Gray wall of sound agelessness for punks of all ages, while the more balladesque tracks, “Mystery Girl” and “Drink to Your Name,” underscore life’s movement via love, time, the double helix, distance, or blood: this release’s apt title. This record is a gem for any rock fan!

Ben Azzara who played in numerous Washington D.C Dischord bands joined in Jan 2011 on drums. ... more
